1996年『機動戦士ガンダム第08MS小隊』オープニング主題歌「嵐の中で輝いて」、同ED主題歌「10YEARS AFTER」でデビュー。
OVAとしては異例の10万枚以上のセールスを記録。以後、挿入歌・劇場版など『機動戦士ガンダム第08MS小隊』の歌をすべて担当。
2018年に行われた「全ガンダム大投票」では、「嵐の中で輝いて」が第5位に選ばれた。
また、TVアニメ『仙界伝 封神演義』OP主題歌「WILL」、同ED主題歌「FRIENDS」も10万枚を越えるヒットとなる。
その他、TVアニメ『FAIRY TAIL』、『RAVE』、『カレイドスター』、『よんでますよ、アザゼルさん。』、『牙狼 -VANISHING LINE-』など、
数々のアニメソングやゲームソングを担当。
2017年からはPCゲーム『9-nine-』シリーズの主題歌を全て担当。シリーズ累計25万本突破しゲームと共に話題となる。
2025年7月放送のTVアニメ「9-nine- Ruler’s Crown」エンディングテーマを担当することが決定。
海外ライブイベントの出演も多く、また、他アーティストへの楽曲提供などソングライターとしても幅広く活動中。
透明感と力強さを兼ね揃えた、表情豊かな歌声で注目を浴びている。
In 1996, Chihiro Yonekura debuted with “Arashi no Naka de Kagayaite” and “10 YEARS AFTER,” opening and ending themes to Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team, respectively.
It was tremendously successful for an OVA title, selling more than 100,000 copies. Since then, she has sung all the songs in the Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS TEAM series.
In 2018, “Atashi no Naka de Kagayaite” was ranked fifth place in the Best of Gundam Grand Poll.
“WILL” and “FRIENDS,” the opening and ending themes to the TV anime Senkaiden Hoshin Engi (Soul Hunter), were also hits, selling more than 100,000 copies.
She has also sung for numerous anime and game songs, including titles such as Fairy Tail, RAVE, Kaleido Star, You’re Being Summoned, Azazel, and Garo – VANISHING LINE.
Since 2017, she has sung every theme song for the PC game series 9 -nine-, which sold more than 250,000 copies, putting the game and Yonekura in the spotlight.
In 2025, she was confirmed to perform the ending theme for the TV anime “9-nine- Ruler's Crown,” airing in July of the same year.
She has appeared in various live concerts overseas and is active in songwriting, providing music for other artists.
She has gained a lot of attention with her gentle yet powerful, expressive singing voice.
