1994年、3人組ロックユニット「Stagger（スタッガー）」としてメジャーデビュー。
その後、ロックバンド「Lapis Lazuli（ラピスラズリ）」の解散を経てソロ活動を開始。
1999年、世界で絶大な人気を誇るTVアニメ『ONE PIECE』の初代OP主題歌「ウィーアー！」のヒットにより、アニソンシンガーとしての地位を確立。
その後も『仮面ライダー龍騎』『魔弾戦記リュウケンドー』『遊☆戯☆王デュエルモンスターズGX』など、数々のアニメやゲーム主題歌を担当する。
2002年、アニソンスーパーユニット“JAM Project”の第2期メンバーとして加入。 武道館ライブや海外でのイベントにも精力的に参加し、現在もその中心
として活動している。
2012年にはオリジナルアルバム「Real（リアル）」を発売。
近年は作家としても頭角を現し、JAM Projectの楽曲はもちろん、他方面のアーティストへの楽曲提供も行っている。
自身のデビュー20周年となる2014年、ベストアルバム「SCORE（スコア）」の発売とともに東阪のライブツアーを敢行。
ソロとしても活動の幅をさらに広げ、2019年7月からはTVアニメ『ONE PIECE』ワノ国編主題歌「OVER THE TOP」を担当。
2023年7月、『ウルトラマンブレーザー』オープニング主題歌「僕らのスペクトラ」を担当。
2024年1月、TVアニメ『ONE PIECE』エッグヘッド編の主題歌『あーーっす！』を5年ぶりに担当し、再び盛り上がりを見せている。
コラボ作を含め歴代最多5曲の主題歌を担当した『ONE PIECE』と共に、世界中のステージに出演しアニソンシンガーとして更なる新境地へと向かっている。
2025年3月26日にはデビュー30周年を記念した『ONEPIECE』カバーアルバム「ONE PIECE COVER SONGS～仲間の印×～」をリリース。
Hiroshi Kitadani made his major debut in 1994 as a member of the three-piece band Stagger. He began his solo career after the rock band Lapis Lazuli disbanded.
In 1999, he made himself a name in the anisong world through the hit "We Are!", the first opening song for the TV anime ONE PIECE, which is extremely popular around the world.
He then performed theme songs for numerous anime and game titles, such as Kamen Rider Ryuki, Magic Bullet Chronicles Ryukendo, and Yu-Gi-Oh GX.
In 2002, he joined as a member of the anisong unit JAM Project's second batch. He actively participated in concerts in Budokan as well as events overseas and remains a core member of the group to this day.
In 2012, he released an original album titled Real.
In recent years, he has demonstrated his talent as a songwriter, providing songs not only for JAM Project but for other artists as well.
In 2014, he released his best album, SCORE, commemorating the 20th anniversary of his debut, and went on a concert tour in Tokyo and Osaka.
He broadened his activities as a solo artist, and in July 2019, he became the performer of "OVER THE TOP," the theme song of the Wano Country Arc of ONE PIECE.
In July 2023, he sang "Bokura no Spectra," the opening theme song of Ultraman Blazer.
In January 2024, after five years, he performed the theme song for ONE PIECE, this time for the Egghead arc. It put him back in the spotlight once again.
He stood on the world stage as an anisong singer with ONE PIECE, for which he sang a total of five songs, including non-solo ones, the greatest number of tie-ups in history, and continues to head for new horizons.
On March 26, 2025, which marked the 30th anniversary of ONE PIECE, he released his cover album ONE PIECE COVER SONGS ~Nakama no Shirushi ×~.
